Sanitation and safety of the permanent former landfill located in “Colle Frateantonio”

The area covered by this project is located in the municipality of Colosimi but is owned by the Municipality of Bianchi in Frateantonio. Through the on-site inspection, the status of the sites has been verified to identify the type of remediation and safety to be carried out on the landfill, in particular, the removal of lead-contaminated soil externally from the landfill area and the exact perimeter of the existing landfill to be recovered. Evapotranspiration Cover (ET cover) is a technology for covering contaminated sites or landfills, which uses the various components of the hydrological balance to minimize the percolation in the soil of rainwater. In addition to being more economical and sustainable than the other available technologies, the realization of an ETcover offers multiple advantages of both environmental and aesthetic nature and landscape; in fact, the realization of an ETcover allows to implementation of a re-naturalization of the area generating an increase in biodiversity and creating the reconnection of an area previously anthropized with the surrounding environment.
