Recovery and enhancement of the Roman Amphitheater of Siracusa

The project relates to the enhancement of the Roman Amphitheater of Siracusa, whose main objective is to ensure a safe use of existing routes, areas and tunnels. The new configuration of the fruitive path will tend to define a guided tour of the property where the visitor will be directed to the discovery of the monument proceeding in a continuous way from the new entrance towards the exit, both during the day and at night. These objectives will be guaranteed thanks to the redevelopment of the paths, the space security and by means of an appropriate lighting design. The project also included the recovery and enhancement of the two existing buildings, used as confined spaces of service to the fruitive path. The “Grace houses”, partially recovered with previous intervention, have been converted into ticket office, first reception and services, while the premises of the existing custodians maintains the current destination taking care to redevelop the property through extraordinary maintenance.
