New covered market of Zaera

Zaera Market is one of the historic food markets of Messina, located between Via Cesare Battisti and Viale Europa in an area of the city with high population density. The project of the “New Zaera Market” was born with the main objective of giving this historic environment a new architectural configuration, recognizable and identity while ensuring adaptation to the current rules on seismic, fire and the removal of architectural barriers. The new intervention aims to give new impulse to the activities commercial presents that take place within the same, in harmony with the natural characteristics of the food market. The project involves the construction of a mixed structure with two floors above ground, in c.a. and steel with steel frame, starting from via Cesare Battisti. The weather cover is light and partly transparent, installed in order to ventilate the floor in question and thus improve the comfort of the entire market.
