The Reggio Calabria water network redevelopment project has been awarded First Prize in the STEAM Workshop “Women Building the Future”, promoted by AIDIA Reggio Calabria, standing out among the 15 projects submitted. Developed by Federica Bruna Carere, the project proposes an innovative model for water resource management, based on the integration of water supply security, environmental protection, territorial development and financial and economic sustainability. The study was developed under the coordination of Elisa A.E. Crimi, Architect and Landscape Architect and member of AIDIA Reggio Calabria, with the support of Remo Chiarini, Engineer. Both are members of Cooprogetti and contributed respectively as tutor and technical-scientific consultant. The award is particularly significant in light of the prize offered to the winner of the STEAM Workshops: the opportunity to address the European Parliament, an opportunity also highlighted by MEP Giusi Princi during the concluding event of the programme, held at the Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria.
This important achievement recognises an ambitious and practical project, deeply rooted in its local context and focused on the more efficient and sustainable management of an essential resource. The initiative demonstrates how technical expertise, design capabilities and attention to community needs can come together in an innovative vision, creating value for the local area and contributing to a more sustainable future.
