On 3 August, the Villa Corradino in Centuripe, an ancient centre in the province of Enna characterised by its significant historical and archaeological value, was reopened to the public. From the villa it is possible to enjoy a privileged view over the Catania Plain and towards Mount Etna to the point that Centuripe is called the ‘balcony of Sicily’. The intervention included architectural and functional upgrading, the introduction of numerous plant species, and historical and cultural enhancement. From now on, citizens and visitors will be able to benefit from a true botanical garden suitable for walks, recreation, relaxation and cultural events. A path has been created that respects the geometry of the site, culminating in a square in the centre of which the Roman mausoleum from the 4th century BC has been preserved. The work has focused on enjoyment through the removal of architectural barriers and the management of rainwater through the creation of first rainwater basins capable of intercepting rainwater from the entire connected district. Cooprogetti, in RTP with Ing. Gaetano Lombardo, took care of the variant design, works management and safety coordination during execution.
