The approval of the Final Project represents a fundamental step towards the realisation of the Urban Park in Piazza della Repubblica in Catania as part of the completion of the San Berillo Redevelopment Plan.
The project envisages the transformation of a degraded area of approximately 35,000 square metres, located near the historical city centre, through a strong action aimed at sustainable development, accessibility and usability for citizens and visitors. The main objectives of the project are summarised in the creation of a large green lung of more than 3 hectares permeated by a network of bicycle and pedestrian paths, the revisitation of the road section of Corso Sicilia and the redevelopment of marginal areas of Via Monsignor Ventimiglia.
This public space represents a great opportunity for the environmental and social redevelopment of the city also through the involvement and awareness of citizens with respect to the changing urban context.
