S.S.117 Centrale Sicula
The S.S.117 Centrale Sicula is the North-South route of the Sicily Region and represents the direct connection between the Tyrrhenian and Mediterranean coasts. For this project, road design, environmental arrangements, environmental monitoring plan, and expropriations were developed. The project lot (called B4b) is located between km 32+000 and km 38+700, in the municipalities of S. Stefano di Camastra, Leonforte, Piazza Armerina, and Gela the municipalities of Mistretta and Nicosia. The main peculiarities of the project are represented by the crossing of the Nature Reserve “Sambuchetti – Campanito” and the presence widespread landslides and breakdowns to reduce the impact of the Reserve, improve access to secondary roads on the main road and overcome the difficulties related to landslides, it was necessary to design works of art including natural galleries, stabilization interventions (trenches and drains), foundations with deep wells for the Viaduct Malgurno. For the Gallery Portella San Martino (L=340 m) and Coniglio (L=988m) in addition to the structural and functional project, the executive design of the plant works was also drawn up.
