The project is part of a complex set of interventions, partly completed and partly underway for upgrading and completing the E78 Grosseto–Fano route, designed to create a transversal connection between the Tuscany, Umbria, and Marche regions. The intervention in question belongs to Section 5 and constitutes Lot 7. It concerns the bypass section around the town of Urbania, specifically the two-lane upgrade of the Urbania bypass. The work falls within road category type C1.
