Extraordinary maintenance of the Torbido Viaduct

The project concerns seismic improvement works for the Torbido Viaduct on the south and north carriageways at km 440+900 of the A2 “Autostrada del Mediterraneo”, carried out under the Framework Agreement DG03/17 – Executive design services for Extraordinary Maintenance works on Bridges, Viaducts, and Tunnels. The intervention is located in the municipality of Reggio Calabria (RC). The viaduct in question is part of the Salerno–Reggio Calabria motorway, from km 440.145 to km 440.505, and consists of a straight section of approximately 100 m and a remaining curved section. The structure as a whole is composed of 11 spans, of which the first 5 on the Salerno side and the first 3 on the Reggio Calabria side are defined as approach viaducts. To determine the geometry, a topographic survey with a point cloud of the entire structure was carried out. The data was subsequently discretized into a three-dimensional model within a BIM environment.
