Caselle Viaduct – NORTH and SOUTH carriageways of the A2 ‘Mediterranean Motorway’
The subject of this design concerns the seismic improvement of the Caselle Viaduct at km 265+888 on the A2 ‘Mediterranean’ motorway, as referred to in the Contract activated under framework agreement DG 55-17 ‘Executive project for surface and deep restoration, with adaptation of substructures, replacement of supports, decks and expansion joints, adaptation of protective barriers and seismic improvement works’. The works are located in the province of Cosenza, near the municipality of Dipignano. The current bridge allows the crossing of the valley at the bend on the Reggio Calabria side. It is divided into five 32.50-metre spans and consists of two side-by-side decks (south carriageway and north carriageway) that are offset both vertically and horizontally. Each carriageway has a total width of 8.50 metres with kerbs on the right and left sides measuring 55 cm in width, for an average total width of 9.60 metres.
