In the year in which Agrigento is the Italian Capital of Culture, the Order of Engineers of the Province of Agrigento is pleased to announce the conference ‘The Infrastructures of the Province of Agrigento and the Bridge over the Strait of Messina: Sicily Gateway to Europe on the Mediterranean’. Organised by the Agrigento Order of Engineers, in collaboration with the Council of the Orders of Engineers of Sicily and the National Council of Engineers, the event aims to enhance Agrigento and Sicily as a strategic Mediterranean hub for Europe. The focus of the debate will be on overcoming the infrastructure gap, a key element in unlocking the region’s full socio-economic potential. Through a debate between experts and institutions, the conference will explore the role of major works – from the bridge over the Strait of Messina to the civil airport in Agrigento – in redefining the island’s economic and tourist future. The initiative will highlight how infrastructures are not only physical elements, but real engines of development and social cohesion.
