E78 GROSSETO–FANO, SELCI–LAMA (E45) – SANTO STEFANO DI GAIFA SECTION. Upgrade to 2 lanes of the SELCI–LAMA (E45) – PARNACCIANO (GUINZA) section. Section 5 – Lot 1
The project is part of a complex of interventions, partly completed and partly in the process of upgrading and completing the E78 Grosseto–Fano route, designed to create a transversal connection between the regions of Tuscany, Umbria, and Marche. The intervention in question belongs to Section 5 and falls within two municipalities in the Umbria region, specifically the municipalities of Città di Castello (PG) and San Giustino (PG). The project essentially represents a deviation from the existing S.S.73 bis in the Apennine crossing section and is aimed at bypassing the current stretch of the S.S.73 bis “DI BOCCA TRABARIA,” which runs from the San Giustino junction with the E45 to Mercatello sul Metauro. Specifically, the portion of road under consideration is located between two sections of the E78: the westernmost section, currently in the final design phase, ending at the Selci–E45 junction, and the already completed Guinza Tunnel section, to which the current project connects. In this context, the project can be considered the initial functional part of the “Due Mari” upgrade in the Selci–Lama – S. Stefano di Gaifa section, representing Lot 1 of the intervention.
