Executive and construction design for integrated contract

Conservative restoration and securing of the former tobacco factory in Comiso, Piazza Carlo Marx

The project aims to improve the safety and usability of the former tobacco factory, a historic complex consisting of seven buildings arranged in an ‘H’ shape around two open courtyards. Originally used for tobacco processing, the building is now only partially used and accessible. The project includes restoration work on the external facades and characteristic architectural elements, structural consolidation and functional and plant engineering adaptation to make it safe and usable again, while respecting the building’s historical value, which is protected by law. The spaces will be functional for the activities to be carried out, such as municipal offices, archives, storerooms and a museum laboratory; the central building that serves as a horizontal connective element has a long vaulted corridor on the ground floor, which is well suited for temporary or permanent painting and photography exhibitions.
